I was scrapbooking recently and thinking about cards. I have been “catching up” on scrapbooking old photographs for months and I was getting to the point where I need some fresh inspiration – cardmaking is always what I go back to in such cases.
For some reason, later in the day, Etsy, the online venue for selling handmade goods, crossed my mind. I soon put two and two together and I had a wild idea: what if I sold my own cards online? My friends and family enjoy them – could others too? I almost dismissed the idea, but I thought I would run it by John first. Much to my surprise, John was excited about the concept. We have been thinking about a way to start our own business recently and this seemed like a pretty good way to do so with a product we care about. The more we talked about it, the more eager we got. A few days later, we took the "plunge" and created our online shop: Crocus Hill Cards.
Since that time a few weeks ago, John and I have been working together to establish the foundations of our little business. We have a brand and have included our logo in our banner, shipping labels and more. We have been creating product (cards are consuming our office, as you can see below). We researched shipping and brainstormed about promoting Crocus Hill Cards. There are so many things to think about prepare for initially and it has been a fantastic challenge so far.
Truthfully, I have no idea where this venture will take us. But I know that we are excited to see just where we go with it and that we are going to learn a lot along the way.
